Further information

Join Phil for a guided Paddle on the upper section of the River Arun in West Sussex.

This tidal assisted trip departs from the shadow of the 11th Century castle in the medieval market town of Arundel.

Traveling with the flow of the river we will wind our way through the heart of the South Downs National Park, and pass through one of the most picturesque landscapes in Sussex.

As we pass between Chalk downs rising on either side of the river we arrive at Amberley. Here we will stop off to have cake and a hot drink made on the Kelly Kettle, before continuing on under the bridge carrying the South Downs Way across the river Through Pulborough Brooks Nature reserve and on to our exit point at Swan bridge.

The absence of busy roads gives the valley a sense of peace and has allowed wildlife to flourish: the river's flood plain creates a wetland habitat perfect for a variety of birds. Keep your eyes peeled for Herons, the blue flash of a kingfisher darting from branch to branch, kestrel’s hunting along the banks and if you’re really lucky Gavin the seal may even pop up and say hello.

We want you to paddle efficiently and safely on your own trips, not just when you are with us. On this trip, you can just paddle and enjoy the view, or take advantage of Phil’s years of paddling and water time to learn more about, equipment, tides, hazards in the river environment, and how to mitigate them so you can plan your own trips safely and enhance your enjoyment of SUP.
